There was no school in the Gibson City Melvin Sibley School District Monday due to a power outage that affected all three schools early in the morning.
Ameren Illinois is reporting that there are 304 customers without power as of 7 a.m. Monday. Crews are working on correcting the problem.
The power outages come at a time when there was a wind chill advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Monday for most of Central Illinois. Temperatures will begin warming today (Tuesday). The high is expected to be around 24 degrees. The best chance for snow this week will come Wednesday, maybe 2 inches..
Thursday's high will be around 32 degrees and temperatures may rise to 40 degrees Friday, but a chance of rain and snow is in the forecast for Saturday.
