In Kankakee County Friday, a Momence man accused of rape and kidnapping, was released from custody pending further investigation of the case.
36-year-old Thomas Morris was arrested earlier for rape and kidnapping. He was accused of criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful detention. But the Kankakee County State's Attorney's office reported there wasn't enough evidence to hold Morris.
But prosecutors and police say the allegations are still under investigation.
Momence Police Chief Jeff Cavender said the alleged victim reported that she was attacked at Morris's home. She made the allegations last Saturday morning but police didn't conduct a search of Morris's home until Wednesday.
