Spring weather arrives, but it won't last

Temperatures weren't too bad Thursday for the arrival of the spring season. And today's high may reach 65. But then winter returns. We could see snow again Monday.

Many folks advantage of a nice day. The National Weather Service is predicting another nice day Friday — the high could reach 63 degrees — before the weather turns cold again for the weekend and next week.

A high of 49 degrees was recorded Thursday, here at WGFA and at the Central Illinois Regional Airport. But meteorologist James Auten with the National Weather Service in Lincoln, said things are about to change.
"Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average" for the next eight to 10 days.

Auten said below-normal temperatures are expected to continue at least through April 2. The Climate Prediction Center predicts below-normal temperatures in its 30-day outlook.
