Funeral arrangements are being handled in Danville for retired Vermilion Conty Coroner Margaret "Peggy" Johnson.  She died Christmas Eve. 

Local officials and friends remember Peggy as a compassionate and caring person in her years as coroner; always offering a word of encouragement with a smile. 

Peggy Johnsoin served as Coroner for 23 years until her retirement in 2016 to spend more time with her family.  She began her career as Deputy-Coroner in 1993, later appointed the post as Coroner in 1999.  She won the Coroner's election in 2000 and was re-elected three more terms until her retirement.

The Sunset Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
