Ameren Illinois is being honored for its response to last summer’s derecho. The company was presented with an Emergency Response Award by the National Energy Association for restoring power to nearly 200,000 customers. The National Weather Service reported the June 29 storm left a 500-plus-mile path of damage through several Midwest states. The hardest hit areas in Illinois included Macon, Champaign and Vermilion counties.
