An Amazon truck-trailer went up in flames Friday destroying 23,000 pounds of merchandise. 

Ashkum Fire was summoned  just after 3 am to the I-57 northbound 289 mile-marker. The fire department arrived to find the semi-tractor and the front of the trailer completely involved. Ashkum Fire Chief Jeff Glenn reports with mutual aid from Gilman and Chebanse Township Fire and heavy equipment from Central Body Repair, the fire was out by 7 am. No one was injured.
