IHSA Investigating Racist Taunts At HS Basketball Game In Elgin

The Illinois High School Association is investigating allegations of racist taunts shouted during a high school basketball game over the weekend in suburban Elgin. Parents claim a black player on the girls' basketball team at Bishop McNamara Catholic School in Kankakee was heckled because of her race Saturday at St. Edward Catholic School. Students in the St. Edward section were heard yelling racially insensitive comments throughout the entire game. St. Edward Superintendent and Principal Brian Tekampe apologized, saying the school condemns racism and discriminatory behavior.
