Iroquois County murder suspect kills himself in Colorado

A search for a Ford County double-murder suspect man wanted in connection with two homicides in Iroquois County ended Sunday in Colorado. 43-year-old Matthew W. Borden allegedly took his own life after a crash ended a police chase near the town of Pierce, CO.

Borden was wanted a $2-million dollar bond for first-degree murder in the weekend deaths of Pamela Williams and Brian D. Musk, both Iroquois County residents. The 54-year-old Williams was found in a roadside ditch near Sheldon Friday morning. Sheriff’s Police found Musk in a Milford apartment Saturday morning. Authorities did not reveal the causes of deaths following autopsies.

Iroquois County authorities continue the investigations with the U.S. Marshall’s Service and Colorado State Police.

Colorado police picked up on reports of a stolen vehicle with Iowa license plates westbound on Colorado Highway 14. The vehicle was reported stolen from Dexter, Iowa. Police were looking for a vehicle of that description in connection with the Iroquois County homicides.

A Colorado trooper and an officer with the Ault (CO) Police Department located the stolen vehicle. Bordon led them on a high-speed chase that ended a mile north of Pierce on U.S. Route 85. Borden crashed his vehicle and reports have him firing shots at the officers. The two officers waited for a SWAT team to arrive at the scene. Police reported Bordon was found dead next to the vehicle.
