A winter storm system moving into Central Illinois and West-central Indiana brings the potential for more heavy snow in some areas. The worst of the snowfall is expected near and south of I-70. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Vermilion, McLean and Piatt Counties. The advisory runs thru midnight today (Monday).
Anywhere from 2-4 inches of new snow are expected. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute on Monday. Heavier snow of 4 to 7 inches is expected in the areas under the warning, with locally higher amounts possible. A glaze of ice is likely too.
Motorists should slow down, use caution, and be aware of changing conditions. Travel kits are suggested in your vehicles in case of emergency.
