Warm December broke records across Illinois

The unseasonably warm holiday season in Illinois broke records. State Climatologist Trent Ford says the preliminary statewide December average temperature was 35.2 degrees, good for the 18th warmest on record. Temps reached 70 degrees in two southern Illinois counties.  He says December was the 50th driest on record in the state, marking the second straight month of below-average statewide precipitation.
