A former Illinois state Senator who later became the director of the state’s agriculture department has resigned. Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office said they asked for and accepted John Sullivan’s resignation over the weekend after he revealed as a state Senator he received a 2012 email to then-Gov. Pat Quinn staffers about someone keeping their mouth shut about a “rape in Champaign” and ghost paryoll practices, but didn’t forward it to authorities.
