Juvenile facing adult charges in armed robbery, shooting in Kankakee

A 17-year-old from Kankakee will stand trial as an adult for the shooting of another man during an armed robbery in early December. Parrish Person is charged with robbery and aggravated battery for the early-morning incident on North 5th Avenue. He could be looking at 6-30 years in prison.

State’s Attorney Jim Rowe said the two Class X felonies allows prosecutors to charge juveniles as adults when a firearm is used in the commission of such a crime. Person and another male juvenile robbed a man as he was walking home. Person and the other juvenile displayed guns. Person was identified as the shooter.
