A Winter Weather Advisory is again in effect for east-central Illinois from 6 am. until 6 pm (CST) Monday, February 17th.

The National Weather Service is warning that travel is expected to become more hazardous, conditions will worsen as light freezing rain or snow in the morning possibly becomes mixed with sleet in the afternoon.

Snow and ice accumulation is forecast to range from one to three inches and also 3-6 inches. The ice accumulation is expected to be less than a tenth of an inch, but it could cause treacherous traveling conditions. Motorists should remember to slow down and allow plenty of extra time to reach their destination.

Iroquois and Ford counties and Benton County in west-central Indiana finds the Winter Weather Advisory calling for three to six inches of snow...with isolated higher amounts possible. The advisory extends north to the Chicagoland area.

Snow is expected to fall rather heavily at times in those areas, with snowfall rates possibly reaching an inch or more per hour. Snow could briefly mix with sleet or freezing rain well south of the Kankakee River on Monday morning, leading to some ice-covered roads.

The NWS reports travel through Chicago O'Hare and Midway Airports could also be impacted.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and ice means that periods of snow and ice will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for ice or snow-covered roadways and possibly limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
