After a year of alternating morning and late-afternoon meetings, the Iroquois County Board is back to just 9 am meetings on the second Tuesday of the month.
Tuesday's (12/11) 5 pm meeting was the last. The Board followed up on the Policy & Procedure recommendation to conduct FY19 meetings at 9 am on the second Tuesday of each month. An attempt to separate the issue from the committee minutes to vote separately on the matter was defeated on 7-11 vote.
The Board did compromise during 2018, holding its business at 5 pm for six months of the year while the 9 am meeting were held the other six months. The compromise came about after discussions and a vote when some board members and the public voiced a desire to favor evening meetings to allow the general public to attend and seek office. It's been pointed out too many people can't attend meetings nor run for office due to the day-time meetings, when most have to work.
