Phony money in Watseka, Sheldon man arrested

 

A 51-year-old Sheldon man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to pass off a counterfeit $20 Chinese bill.  James Koch is charged with 3-counts of forgery. 

Watseka Police were called to a local business after a report of a man trying to, pass the counterfeit bill.  The man fled when confronted.  A second call from another business where the man also tried to pass the $20 bill befire fleeing.  An Indiana man later contacted police to report he had accepted a similiar Chinese $20 bill from the suspect. 

Police located the vehicle at another business and were able to recover the counterfeit bill.  Koch was jailed in Iroquois County.
