Trick-or-Treaters in the WGFA-listening area are urged to take proper steps to stay safe while they go door-to-door this weekend for Halloween. Most community trick-or-treat hours are Saturday. Some are today (Friday) and there's also community parades and events at shopping venues and schools.
Parents are reminded to make sure their child's mask is not blocking their sight. Any use of make-up or other costume jewelry should keep proper vision in mind. Attention should also be directed to making sure children not go between cars when they cross streets. Use the crosswalks where they are in place. Young children should be accompanied by an adult when going door-to-door. Only approach houses where a porch light in ON.
Police and other safety officials advise children should be cautioned about someone asking them to step inside their home while making Halloween rounds. Children should never go inside. Children should be encouraged to return to the parent quickly and report any funny business to the parent. Parents too, may want to contact and notify police.
Children should be cautioned about eating candy or other items they receive that are not wrapped. No one should be eating anything until their parents inspect what they've received.
