River Valley Metro buses are teaming up with the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department to support the annual Shop-with-a-Cop program.
Kankakee County’s needy children will benefit on December 16th when police officers take kids shopping.
The public transportation system will donate all of its bus-fares collected this coming Tuesday to the Shop-With-A- Cop program.
RVM’s Director, Rob Hoffmann, said all monies dropped into the bus-fares will be turned over to the Shop-with-a-Cop organization. He said people who don’t ride the bus can help by dropping off donations at the Metro Centre’s office along St. George Road. Donations at the office can be made from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Donations can also be made on any metro bus.
The Shop-With-A-Cop program started in 1991 is now in its 27th year. It’s organized by Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police Detective Brady Bertrand.
