Former Momence Police Chief stripped of pension

Former Countryside and Momence Police Chief Tim Swanson, who's serving a 27-month prison term, now appears to have lost his $100,000 a year police pension. The Countryside Police Pension Board is moving to strip Swanson of the pension benefits.

Swanson is serving his 27-year prison term and then has to repay some $300,000 in restitution and fines, once released from custody.

Swanson admitted to stealing money from a police non-profit organization. He's been in a court battle to keep his six-figure annual pension, arguing since pleading guilty to tax charges connected to the pilfered-funds, his crime was a personal act, not connected to his job as a police official.
