Iroquois County 9-1-1 appointment doesn’t happen

State statute is not allowing one of two suggested-appointments for the ETSB Board in Iroquois County.

Paul Ducat’s recommendation was pulled from consideration today (Tues) when appointments were presented at the County Board meeting.

Ducat, of Chebanse, is a newly-elected County Board member. The statute limits the number of County board representatives on the ETSB........

Board Chairman John Shure said the statute was misinterpreted. After reviewing it, it’s been determined just one county board member will be allowed to serve.

The County Board member serving the ETSB is Joe Young, who’s also a first responder from Cissna Park. A second suggested ETSB member will be Warren Weber of Ashkum.

State’s Attorney Jim Devine’s mistake was based on populations over 100,000 where multiple county board members could serve the ETSB.

Shure said the vacancy on the 9-1-1 board will be dealt with in the next month.
