Rep. Bennett to seek re-election to Illinois House

State Rep. Tom Bennett, R-Gibson City, will seek his second term in the Illinois House of Representatives in 2016.

Bennett, who represents the 106th Illinois House District, recently filed some 1,900 petition signatures obtained from registered voters in support of his re-election with the Illinois State Board of Elections. Illinois election law requires candidates seeking nomination for state representative to file a minimum of 500 signatures from likely Republican registered voters.

"I am very thankful for the support I received from approximately 1,900 voters agreeing to put my name on the ballot so that I may run for re-election as their state representative," Bennett said. "I will continue to advocate for all residents of the 106th District. There is certainly much more work to be done for taxpayers.

Bennett was first elected state representative after receiving 80 percent of the vote in the November 2014 general election.
