Kankakee attorney Ed Glazar has announced his bid as a candidate for Kankakee County state's attorney.
The 61-year-old is the county's former chief public defender. He will seek the Republican nomination in the March 2016 Primary to replace current state's attorney Jamie Boyd.
Boyd just recently decided to run for a circuit judge's seat.
This is Glazar's first time running for public office. He resigned as public defender in September after 32 years in that position.
A three-way race has developed, so far, on the GOP ticket. Public defender Emile Capriotti and Larry Beaumont, a former 20-year federal prosecutor in Illinois and a former Kankakee County assistant state's attorney, have said they are both running.
Jim Rowe, who lost to Boyd in the last general election, is running as a Democrat.
