Albers wins Treasurer’s race in Iroquois County; Shure, Huse win District 2 County Board seats

Republican Kurt Albers grabbed 79% of the vote (Tuesday) to easily win the race for Treasurer in Iroquois County. Albers had 8040 votes to Democrat Bill Nutter with 2122.

Albers succeeds Mindy Kuntz-Hagan, who did not seek re-election.

A 3-way race for County Board in District 2 saw John Shure and Steve Huse win out over challenger Paula Rossow.

Six other newcomers will join the County Board in December. They were un-contested. Paul Ducat and Leanne Hofbauer-Duby will represent District 1. Joe Young and Paul Bowers will represent District 3 and John Zumwalt and Roger Bard will be new voices in District 4.

A referendum question passed in Iroquois County. Voters were asked – Should the Illinois General Assembly refrain from passing any additional legislation limiting a citizen’s right to keep and bear arms as defined by the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution ?

75% of voters said YES, 7568 to 2511.
