Three Momence men are identified as the victims of a triple fatality in Newton County Friday morning.

Newton County, IN sheriff’s police continue to investigate the crash which took the lives of 44-year-old Jeffery Markel, 41-year-old Steven Markel and 27-year-old Nathaniel Conner. All three were in a pickup truck that slammed into the rear of a semi tractor-trailer.

The accident happened about 2:15 am on State Road 10, west of U.S. 41. Police said the eastbound semi was slowing to yield at the intersection when it was rear-ended by the pickup.

The semi driver wasn’t injured.
