A fatal traffic accident investigated Monday afternoon on the Momence curves on Route 17. (The location is commonly known as Kinney’s Corner at 500 N Road).

28-yr-old Guillermina Arroyo-Rico of Kankakee was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police reported she pulled into the path of an eastbound UPS truck driven by 33-yr-old Randy Pierce of Clifton. The truck driver was not injured. A 3rd driver trying to avoid the crash suffered a minor injury.

Several emergency crews were on the scene. Route 17 had traffic diverted while the accident was investigated. The collision happened at 5 pm.
