Update: Another victim from Beecher crash dies

The 4-year-old boy involved in Monday's fatal two-vehicle crash in rural Beecher is the latest fatality, the Will County Sheriff's Department reported today.

Weston Schmidt died from his injuries at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday at Comers Children's Hospital in Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Weston's mother, 29-yr-old Lindsey Schmidt and his 2-year-old brother, Kaleb, were pronounced dead at the scene Monday morning. The fourth passenger in the family's vehicle, their 6-year-old son, Owen, remains on life support.

Police3 reported Lindsey, who was four-months pregnant, was only about a block from her Beecher home when her northbound vehicle on South Yates Avenue, was broadsided by an eastbound pick-up truck driven by a 25-year-old Manteno man who failed to stop at a stop sign on East Corning Road.
The identity of the driver has not been made public.

Lindsey was taking her children to a summer Bible school at the time of accident.

A fundraising account... “Schmidt Family Fund”.... has been set up at First Community Bank branches in Beecher and Peotone.
