Childress seeks re-election as Sheriff in Livingston County

Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress has announced he will be seeking the Republican nomination for the office of sheriff in the March 2018 primary.

Childress held recent rallies in Pontiac, Fairbury and Dwight to garner support for his announcement that he is seeking re-election.

“I love the people of Livingston County and I love the men and women of the Livingston County Sheriff’s office,” Childress said. “They’ve been a great pleasure to work with. We just work so well together. We’ve enjoyed so many successes together."

Childress has served as sheriff the last two plus years. He's been with the department for over 25 years.

Childress first took office in 2013 when the County Board appointed him to replace Marty Meredith who resigned from the post. He won election to the seat in 2014.
