State Police weekend arrests

A State Trooper was conducting foot patrol at the Iroquois County Fair Saturday and was advised of an individual consuming alcohol on the fairgrounds property, which is prohibited. The trooper approached 19-yr-old Charlie Rasmussen of Bourbonnais and advised him of the ban on alcohol on the fairgrounds property. The trooper was advised that Rasmussen was under the age of 21. Rasmussen was arrested charged with Illegal Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

State Police were dispatched to a crash on I-57 southbound in Ford County. The driver, Kayla Kusman of Watseka, showed signs of alcohol impairment. Kusman was arrested and taken to the Ford County Jail in Paxton. Kusman was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Sunday afternoon, an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Iroquois County when he observed a speeding vehicle on I-57. After a stop, the trooper was talking with the occupants and could smell an odor of burnt cannabis emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed 47.3 grams of cannabis. Terrance Thomas of Mattoon, passenger, was placed under arrest. Thomas was charged with Possession of cannabis 30-100g and he was Wanted on a Warrant out of Kankakee County.

Also on Sunday....an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol in Iroquois County. The trooper observed an abandoned vehicle that had struck the median wires on I-57. The driver, Jose Hernandez of Urbana, was located walking on I-57 southbound. Hernandez showed signs of alcohol impairment and was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail. Hernandez was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving While License Revoked. Hernandez was also issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.
