State Senator Jason Barickman says he is ready to support legal, recreational marijuana if the law is written correctly.

That means only selling to adults, making sure to protect people's other rights, and making sure the hundreds of millions of dollars that marijuana sales could bring into the state are used properly.

Barickman said he's ready to vote yes, but not to co-sponsor the plan.

Barickman says he expects other Republicans to also endorse marijuana, and he hopes Governor Bruce Rauner changes his mind.
