The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police have charged a Chatsworth man with several hunting violations.

68-year-old Alan Sterrenberg is accused of illegal hunting. He was cited this past weekend. IDNR officials say they received an anonymous complaint of a subject hunting deer from his all-terrain vehicle in Northern Ford County.

Two officers caught Sterrenberg driving along side of a standing cornfield in his vehicle with the front window propped open and his loaded and uncased shotgun sticking out the front of it. Sterrenberg was also observed earlier by an officer as he was hunting outside of the UTV without the required blaze orange clothing on.

Sterrenbger was cited for Unlawful transportation of an uncased loaded firearm, Hunting by Aid or use of a motor vehicle, No Blaze Orange upper garment while firearm deer hunting.

His Polaris Ranger and his shotgun were subsequently seized as they were directly used in the unlawful hunting acts.

The DNR reports in 2016, Sterrenberg had also been stopped by the same two officers after they had received complaints of unlawful hunting from a UTV.
