After a few much-needed days of good weather, storms are returning to parts of the nation starting today. There's a major winter storm out west that dumped between six inches to a foot of snow in Denver overnight. Ten western states from California to Montana could see high winds, heavy snow and increased avalanche danger today. That storm is expected to move across the South later today, bringing heavy rain and possible thunderstorms from Texas to Mississippi. Areas from eastern Texas to northern Alabama and Tennessee could see some flooding over the next few days. Motorists should be alert for snow-melt creating ponding on roadways.
