Illinois State Police are trying to figure out who threw a rock the size of a bowling ball off an Interstate 55 overpass in Logan County early Monday morning, smashing through the roof of a vehicle just outside Atlanta and nearly hitting two people inside.

The rock weighed nearly 10 pounds.

Police issued a stern warning about the incident, saying punishment can include felony charges and jail time.
