The City of Kankakee is extending condolences to the family and friends of former Mayor Don Green. Green served as Mayor of Kankakee for 16 years. He died Sunday morning. He was 78.
Current Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong said “Don Green’s 16 years as mayor of our beloved city speaks to his commitment to the community.” Mayor Wells-Armstrong added, “we appreciate the years of service and extend condolences to his family.”

The city’s Public Safety Building, on Oak Street, is named in his honor.
