On Wednesday, Coles County Investigators met with Bradley Police

Department in reference to locating and speaking to Thomas A. Small, a

suspect in the 1980 case in which a body was located at Air Tight Bridge

in rural Coles County, Illinois. The body was later identified through

DNA testing in 1992 as Diane Small. Small had been entered earlier that

year as a missing person in Bradley, Illinois.

On Thursday, Thomas A. Small was arrested and is currently in

custody in connection with his wife’s murder, Diane Small in 1980.

Charges are pending through the Kankakee States Attorneys Office and

Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office. Agencies assisting the Coles

County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of Thomas Small were the Bradley

Police Department and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department.
