An Iroquois County bicyclist suffered what appeared to be fatal injuries when he struck a stopped semi-trailer tractor Tuesday morning west of Rantoul.

Rantoul Police reported 58-year-old Rick Ried of Wellington was riding his bicycle west on Innovation Road when he struck the parked semi.

Police stated, 'the driver was sitting there filling out his log book.'

The collision flipped Ried off his bike. He was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived and when he was taken by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital. He died just before 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene at 9:08 am.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Anderson Funeral Home.
