The Illinois State Public Health Department is warning people about rabid bats. Health officials have discovered two rabid bats within the last four days within the Chicago city limits. This year alone health officials have discovered 15 rabid bats statewide.

Health officials are warning people to stay away from any wild animals they come in contact with. They also recommend keeping their animals on a leash when outdoors and making sure they are up to date on their vaccinations.
