A fatal collision between an Illinois state trooper and a 26-year-old woman has been linked to a police pursuit of a suspect in an officer's shooting earlier that night. Master Sgt. Matthew Boerwinkle of the Illinois State Police tells The (Champaign) News-Gazette that the trooper was responding to a call about the Mahomet officer's shooting late Saturday when his patrol car struck a van at a Decatur intersection.
Meanwhile --- a manhunt continues for Dracy "Clint" Pendleton of Mahomet. He's considered armed and dangerous. Pendleton and Mahomet officer Jeremy Scharlow were wounded when exchanging gunfire during a traffic stop Saturday night.
Officer Scharlow is recovering from an arm injury at home. Police believe Pendleton could be driving a stolen white pickup truck, license plate # 165533B.
He's described as a 34-year-old white male, 5-10, about 155 pounds. He has blue eyes and blonde hair. Pendleton is believed to be armed with an AK-47.
