SPECIALTY CROP GRANTS --

Twelve agriculture projects throughout the state are sharing $691,000 from a federal Specialty Crop Block Grant. The money that’s part of the expiring 2014 Farm Bill is meant to expand the availability of fresh, locally-grown produce. The projects include one to expand small-scale hops farming and another creating an online database of Illinois’ specialty crops.
