UPDATE: DeKalb woman killed in I-57 crash

A 48-year-old DeKalb (IL) woman died in Wednesday morning's two-vehicle crash on Interstate 57 in Iroquois County. An adult woman and two children were also injured.

Shirley Davis was identified by Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum. Her disabled car was slammed from behind by another southbound vehicle.

A second adult passenger, 22-year-old Lacriessa Mosley of Chicago, and two children, ages 2 and 5-months, were injured. The children were air-lifted to Loyola Medical Center at Maywood.

Cheatum said Shirley Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Illinois State Police at Ashkum reported Davis's disabled car was in the southbound passing lane near mile post 290. A van driven by 56-year-old Daniel Nosek of Lombard rear-ended the Davis car. Nosek was treated for minor injuries.

A state police reconstruction team forced the interstate to be closed for three hours. The accident occurred at 8:18 am.

Ashkum, Gilman, Danforth and Chebanse Township Fire, IMH and Riverside ambulance all responded to the scene.
