Members of the Vermilion County Farm Bureau, like everyone else, wants the state's Budget impasse to end. So do area legislators. A handful of lawmakers told the Farm Bureau (Monday) they too know and feel the frustration.
State Reps Tom Bennett and Chad Hays were joined by Senators Chapin Rose and Scott Bennett at forum in Danville.
The legislators said resolving the deadlock won't be easy.
Chad Hays said he's looking forward to what Governor Bruce Rauner has to say in his State of the State Address Wednesday. Hays adds he would like to see lawmakers adopt a two year budget.
Tom Bennett said the State of the State and then the Budget Address, later, should be interesting. Senator Scott Bennett says there needs to be a bi-partisan effort to get the gridlock in Springfield resolved.
A concern to area farmers is that state funding has been cut to County Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
The Vermilion County Soil and Water Conservation District has lost several key employees because of it.
