Boil Order Lifted in Roberts

                                                                                 Emergency Water Issue Ends

Residents of Roberts in Ford County are using their water supply again after an emergency prompted a request to curtail water usage earlier in the week.  A Boil Order was lifted Thursday afternoon.  Village President Matt Vaughn expressed his appreciation for the local citizens patience and understanding.

Residents of the small town were asked to stop using water Monday when a local well failed.  The fear was having the well dry up if water was used.  An underground leak was located and repairs are underway.  The boil order was issued as a precaution.  That order ended Thursday..

The Illinois Water Association worked with the community officials to provide assistance.  Neighbors, Paxton and Gibson City, stepped up to offer help.  President Vaughan said the cause of the main well’s failure was a hole in a pipe about 140 feet below ground level.  Layne-Western Well Co. work crews located the problem and it was called "an easy fix."
