The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Dinner & 2021 Awards Night (Wednesday), recognizing Amber Turner as the top Ambassador. Turner is account manager for Agente Staffing/People Etc. Ms. Turner was praised as the Ambassador of the Year for tireless efforts in promoting the chamber and its involvement community-wide. The nomination referred to Ms. Turner having attended every Chamber event including Business Before and After Events, ribbon-cuttings, golf outings and other fundraisers.
SERVRPRO of Kankakee County was honored as the Large Business of the Year. Owner/ Manager Bobby Nichols leads the charge for the Manteno-based SERVPRO operation. The company is very community-involved, participating and sponsoring many local events. SERVPRO is a disaster-response firm, specializing in property clean-up and restoration, both business and residential.
Johnsonville Foods of Momence earned the Manufacturer of the Year Award. The sausage-making plant is also community-minded, donating its products to several groups, including schools. The Chamber also was a recipient of the many donations. Johnsonville Foods donated over $25,000 in goods to the community. Despite the pandemic-driven year, the firm was always maintaining its production levels.
The Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner and Awards program was held at the Knights of Columus in Kankakee.
