The Iroquois County Emergency Telephone System Board met Friday to discuss the employment situation/contract of longtime 9-1-1 Coordinator Nita Dubble.

During the public comment section, Edgar County Watchdogs website owners Kirk Allen and John Kraft were in attendance to voice their concerns again about the validity of the contract. Several others in attendance would then question the Watchdogs' involvement and voice support for Dubble. The board would then go into executive session.

After a brief executive session, Iroquois County State’s Attorney Jim Devine said there was not sufficient wording on the March 25, 2014 agenda when the board originally passed the contract. Devine determined the contract was null and void and was never valid in the first place. Devine said Dubble will now be considered an at-will employee and will continue her job at the same pay until she decides to leave or the board decides otherwise. Devine added that the board could give her a new contract but it would be for one year at a time. The meeting adjourned with no further action being taken.

Dubble has served as coordinator for over 20 years.
