“Joyful Sounds of the Season,” the 2017 Iroquois County Christmas Cantata, will be presented this year by the Iroquois County Cantata Choir. The first rehearsal will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 and then again Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Rehearsals for the musical will take place at 1 p.m. every Sunday at First Christian Church, 546 N. Sixth, Watseka. Anyone seventh grade through adult is invited to join this ecumenical county choir. Singers are asked to bring $15 to the first rehearsal, which will cover a portion of the cost of the spiraled notebook, listening CD and supplemental musical which will be used.
This year commemorates the 42nd year of the Iroquois County Christmas Cantata. Each year the cantata committee selects a worthy Iroquois County organization and presents a donation to the group following the cantata performances. This year’s recipent will be the Iroquois County Ramp Builders, who average building 50-60 ramps each year in Iroquois County. Volunteers construct the ramps at no cost and rely completely on donations.
