Bar patrons ‘not guilty’ in Momence rape trial

The two men accused of raping a Momence bartender in 2016 have been found not guilty.

A Kankakee County jury deliberated much of Monday afternoon before returning its verdict about 4:30 pm.

John A. "Adam" Harrison and Thomas J. Madison were tried as co-defendants, arguing that the sex was consensual during a night that began with four of their friends having dinner and drinks at a nearby restaurant. They then went to the Off the Vine bar where the alleged act took place at closing time.

A bartender testified that she was forced into a bathroom where the two defendants tried to engage in sex.
