Helicopter crash kills pilot in White County

A helicopter crashed in White County, Indiana (Tuesday), killing the male pilot.

The helicopter crashed just before 4 pm, south of Chalmers, and landed in a field near the intersection of county roads East 700 South and South 150 East.

Indiana State Police and the White County Sheriff’s Office were on scene investigating, along with the NTSB and the FAA who were also called in to assist.

Sgt Kim Riley said the pilot was the only one in the helicopter at the time of the crash.

Riley said the helicopter was part of a utility crew with EC Source, working to string power lines in the area. He said the pilot was subcontracted through the company.
