A former Paxton resident has learned his drug-trafficking trial is scheduled for this summer in Macon County. A June 12th date is on the calendar for 35-year-old Eddi “Migo” Ramirez.

Ramirez failed to have his criminal drug case thrown out of court based on grounds of double-jeopardy.

A state appellate court ruling upheld a judge’s decision to reject Ramirez’s claim that his felony drug-trafficking case in Macon County should be thrown out. Ramirez had claimed he was being subjected to double jeopardy by being charged in Macon County with drug-trafficking crimes for which he already had been charged in federal court.

Ramirez is charged in Macon County with unlawful criminal drug conspiracy, a Class X felony. He’s jailed on a $500,000 bond. A conviction could bring 5 to 120 year prison term.
