The former Kankakee resident, arrested in the Monday robbery of the BrickStone Brewery & Restaurant in Bourbonnais, is facing federal charges and could be looking at 25 years in prison. Michael Cobbs Jr. of Champaign is in custody for the armed robbery. Now, the Daily-Journal reports the case will go before a federal grand jury.
Records show, because BrickStone os a restaurant and brewery and engages in interstate commerce thru food and alcohol outside of Illinois, Cobb is charged under the federal Hobbs Act –which prohibits robbery or extortion affecting interstate or foreign colmmerce.
The 32-year-old Cobb is in custody of the U.S. Marshalls.
Cobb was arrested Monday after the BrickStone was robbed and employees were injured.
