Teens arrested for August shooting in Kankakee

Kankakee County State's Attorney Jim Rowe reports three teenagers are under arrest, all believed to be responsible for an August shooting that injured two juveniles. The gunfire erupted in the 300-block of N. Rosewood Avenue.

Kankakee Police arrested 18-year-old Marquise Sabbs, 19-year-old Lupe Torres and a 17-year-old male. The arrests were made over the weekend.

Charges include two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Two of the subjects are also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member.

All three have bonds set at $500,000.

States. Attorney Rowe says in a press release, "Thanks to the hard work of the City of Kankakee Police Department, its detective bureau and especially Detective Joseph Martinez who worked tirelessly on ths case, these suspects have been apprehended and charged.

"We look forward to prosecuting these cases in an effort to obtain justice for the two victims as well as the entire community that is impacted by these type of crimes.
