Jim Seabert has traded his fire equipment in, electing now to use some fishing equipment. And –the change in habit suits him just fine, so far. He and his wife, Sue, are enjoying the fishing climate in Missouri.

Well-deserved retirement after 39 years on the Martinton Fire Department, many of those years serving as chief.
Thursday evening, a community gathering at the Martinton Fire Station welcomed Chief Seabert back home for a brief visit and a retirement party. But it was still an emotional event for a guy who devoted a lot of community time into emergency work and then a quick, quiet departure..........

"I knew it wouldn't be easy, so I did it quietly," Seabert said. "T think about the guys all the time, but not enough to put the fishing gear aside," he laughed.

Jeff Meyer is acting-chief now for Martinton Fire. Seabert is confident the department is in good hands. But his retirement seemed to happen quickly after he made the connection for the property he wanted in Missouri.

Equipment upgrades over the years is always a proud accomplishment in the fire business. But Seabert says it doesn’t happen without good, dedicated firemen and women; including the managing fire trustees.

Family and community friends were on hand to congratulate the chief on his retirement. Neighboring fire, police, and EMS personnel were also present to shake hands and share stories.
