Iroquois health officials to lead 4th of July Parade

The staff members of the Iroquois County Public Health Department will serve as grand marshal for Watseka's July 4th holiday parade.  The parade is on Saturday, July 3, beginning at 10 am.  "Proud to be an American" is this year's theme.  Registration and entry forms are available at the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce office.

The local health department was chosen grand marshal for its leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The healtrh department was founded in July 2014.  It's staff is made of of 32 individuals, including 10 Registered Nurses and one Licensed Environmental Health Practioner.  The staff serves residents of Iroquois County thru a number of diverse services.

"We feel the health department went beyond the norm in educating the public about the pandemic, answering questions about something so new such as the pandemic," said Amanda Hibbs, Executive Director of the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce.  "The health officials hosted vaccine clinics and kept the public educated and well-informed about the many aspects of the pandemic."
